A special 12" lock groove record is made as tool for the staalplaat soundsystem installation at the Earational festival 2004. Each side will consist of 11 groups of 5 different loops.

Some made for interference, some made to harmonise, all made for the location. For one side of this record staalplaat soundsystem will select loops and for the other side we have invited artists to make loops.

The present set-up consists of 10 vinyl killers - toy car record players, each customised with its own fm transmitter. The sound will come through a set of 200 radios that will receive the signal transmitted by the vinyl killers. As each killer will play its own record (locked groove records) it opens up a separate audio stream. We thereby generate and control a 10-channel sound system. By arranging the radios in 10 groups it becomes possible to explore the architectural dimensions of the space.
